Freshwater Theatre is committed to creating truth while minimizing the harms that those truths can pose to our staff and audiences. We acknowledge that by mirroring or skewering our culture, we are necessarily engaging with white supremacy, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia,and other forms of oppression. It is our goal to do as little harm to the artists creating these truths as possible, and to never create or sustain an environment in which abuse goes unreported or unchecked.

Tangibles:

1.Trained intimacy coordinators and fight choreographers to ensue that the minds and bodies of actors are protected from physical, emotional, or sexual violence.

2.A transparent reporting system for incidents of harassment to a designated Safety Officer who has no other role within a production than to be a third party to facilitate reporter-driven conflict resolution. This role will rotate amongst Freshwater Company members.

3.Clear communication of our behavior expectations and policies at the beginning of rehearsal processes, technical rehearsals, and job interviews.

4.We strive to be a place in which those from marginalized communities will want to work and will trust us with their stories. As an organization, we acknowledge that we are responsible to do our part to dismantle white supremacy.To that end, we commit to authenticity in our choices of shows, actors, and directors.

5.Celebration of bodies of every size, and accommodation of disabilities, visible and invisible.

6.Respect for pronouns and gender presentation.

7.Accommodation of child care considerations.

8.Transparency in financial compensation and pre-casting.
