Albino Squirrel’s Fringe debut, “Pocahontas (Or How I Learned to Stop Worryingpocahontas and Love the Mouse)” has been chosen for our annual Fringe remount!

For anyone who missed their chance to see it, this is for you! Also, a revised script and a new cast will provide a brand new experience for the lovelies who attended the Fringe version.

“Pocahontas” is a satirical spoof of the 1995 Disney film, lampooning the tendency in Hollywood to whitewash historical figures and events to make them more palatable for American audiences, while exploiting racial stereotypes for a cheap laugh and a quick buck. The play largely follows the plot of the movie in-between scenes portraying the corporate culture that drives these unsavory elements of the creative process, featuring the sibling-producer duo Walt and Roy (no relation) and Rebecca, a young woman they’re auditioning who’s always dreamed of being a Disney princess. There’s plenty of laughs to be had, supplemented by the musical score of Steve Modena and Sarah Dewhirst, with lyrics by Steve Modena and Bryn Tanner.

With 37 reviews and a 5 star average, “Pocahontas” was a hit at the Fringe and we’re happy to bring the show to ever-new audiences!
